NP-C86 is a small molecule that limits the degradation of GAS5 by blocking the interaction of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) GAS5 and UPF1. NP-C86 binds to GAS5 with high affinity (Kd=153 nM) and stabilize GAS5 levels in vivo.

NP-C86 is a small molecule that limits the degradation of GAS5 by blocking the interaction of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) GAS5 and UPF1. NP-C86 binds to GAS5 with high affinity (Kd=153 nM) and stabilize GAS5 levels in vivo.
NP-C86 (20 nM, 24 hours) dramatically reduces (4-fold) the association between UPF1 and GAS5, increases GAS5 levels and glucose uptake in diabetes mellitus (DM) adipocytes.
NP-C86 is specific for lncRNA GAS5, does not affect levels of MALAT1 or NEAT1, the other lncRNAs present in the adipocytes.
NP-C86 restores insulin-mediated glucose uptake in DM adipocytes.
