NPC-15437 (NPC15437) is a specific, competitive small molecule protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor with IC50 of 19 uM. NPC-15437 inhibits activation of PKCα by both phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) (Ki = 5 uM) and phosphatidylserine (PS) (Ki = 12 uM). NPC-15437 inhibits phorbol ester-induced ear edema in mouse (IC50 = 175 micrograms/ear), demonstrating the ability to inhibit PKC-mediated activity in intact cells. NPC-15437 (1 mg/kg) induces specific deficits in memory retention in mice.
