NSC348884 is a small molecule nucleophosmin (NPM) inhibitor, disrupts the formation of dimers and inhibits aberrant NPM functionin cancer cells.
NSC348884 inhibits cell proliferation at an IC(50) of 1.7-4.0 uM in distinct cancer cell lines and disrupts NPM oligomer formation by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis assay.
NSC348884 upregulates p53 (increased Ser15 phosphorylation) and induces apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner that correlated with apoptotic markers: H2AX phosphorylation, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage and Annexin V labeling.
NSC348884 synergizes doxorubicin cytotoxicity on cancer cell viability.
