Biological Activity
Peptide SBT-20 (SS-20) is a cell-permeable peptide targeting the inner mitochondrial membrane, reduces ROS, normalizes electron transport chain function and ATP generation.
SBT-20 significantly reduced infarct size in two different models of myocardial injury, but did not affect hemodynamics or no-reflow area in rat heart.
SBT-20 alleviated the inflammation and oxidation in HK-2 injury via controlling the mitochondrial function.
SBT-20 prevented apoptosis and inflammation and recovered the renal function through restoring mitochondrial function in vivo.
