Pyrabactin is a specific, synthetic abscisic acid (ABA) agonist that selectively inhibits seed germination, promotes interactions between HAB1 and PYR1, PYL1 or PYL3.
The effects of pyrabactin in seeds depend primarily on one protein, PYR1.
Pyrabactin binds the ABA-binding pocket of PYR1 and induces gate closure. binds within the ABA-binding pocket of both PYR1 and PYL2, but does not elicit gate closure in PYL2 due to non-productive, incompletely buried ligand orientation.
