Biological Activity

RLC-1 is a specific cardiac myosin inhibitor that depends on the presence of a myosin regulatory light chain (RLC), inhibits ATPase in bovine cardiac heavy meromyosin (HMM), but not when RLC is removed.
RLC-1 inhibits force production in both myofibrils and demembranated trabeculae in ex vivo studies.
RLC-1 also moves myosin heads away from the thick filament backbone and accelerates steady-state and dynamic contractile kinetics. inhibits the
interaction between myosin and actin, reduces contractile force
development and Ca2+ sensitivity of force, and increases the
submaximal rate constant for tension redevelopment.
