ROF2 is an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) small molecule, functionalities as an amyloid probe and a screening tool for amyloid inhibitors using different biophysical, cellular, and worm assays.
ROF2 dispalys superior sensing capability in monitoring, detecting, and distinguishing amyloid aggregates of different sequences (Amyloid-β, human islet amyloid polypeptide, or human calcitonin) and sizes (monomers, oligomers, or fibrils), compared with Thioflavin T (ThT).
ROF2 exhibits the aggregation- and concentration-dependent emissive property for amyloid detection.
ROF2 (0.2 uM) is sufficiently effective in detecting amyloid aggregates, induces significant fluorescence upon binding to amyloid aggregates.
