Sortin1 is a small molecule sorting inhibitor (Sortin) that induces reversible defects in vacuole biogenesis and root development in Arabidopsis seedlings at 100 mg/liter (227 uM).
Sortin1 induces secretion of the AtCPY (carboxypeptidase Y) precursor in Arabidopsis cell suspensions.
Sortin1 is a powerful chemical to control the induced phenotype in a manner that would be difficult to achieve using conventional genetics.
