Biological Activity

Ternatin-4 is a small molecule elongation factor-1alpha (eEF1A) inhibitor, triggers the ubiquitination and degradation of eEF1A on stalled ribosomes, targets the complex of eEF1A bound to aminoacyl-tRNAs (aa-tRNA).
Ternatin-4 stalls elongation by preventing aa-tRNA release from eEF1A on the ribosome.
Ternatin-4 promotes eEF1A degradation in a manner that requires translating ribosomes.
Ternatin-4 promotes RNF14 and RNF25-dependent ubiquitination of eEF1A and ribosomal proteins.
