Biological Activity

UP109 is a small molecule activator of VCP ATPase activity with EC50 of 24.7 uM, Emax of 197%, activates VCP primarily by increasing D2 ATPase activity.
UP109 has at least some specificity for VCP over other AAA+ ATPases.
UP109 likely binds in the D2 ATPase domain of VCP.
UP109 (5 uM) effectively enhances clearance of TDP-4FL aggregates in cells expressing GFP-TDP-4FL.
UP109 is also effective in assisting clearance of TDP-4FL aggregates in iPSC-derived neurons.
