Biological Activity
YAT2150 is a potent antileishmanial compound and inhibitor of protein aggregation, exhibits potent antiplasmodial activity with IC50 of 90 nM.
YAT2150 also is strongly active against the chloroquine-resistant W2 strain (IC50 of 90 ± 1 nM) and several artemisinin-resistant strains, with IC50 values ranging from 90 to 160 nM.
YAT2150 arrested the life cycle of the pathogen at trophozoite stage.
YAT2150 is a powerful inhibitor of the aggregation of the model amyloid β peptide fragment 1-40.
YAT2150 reduces the amount of aggregated proteins in P. falciparum cultures, suggesting that the underlying antimalarial mechanism consists in a generalized impairment of proteostasis in the pathogen.
