Biological Activity
Sutidiazine (Zintrodiazine, ZY-19489, MMV 253, AZ-13721412) is a novel antimalarial triaminopyrimidine compound with IC50 of 9 nM against sexual blood stage of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf).
Sutidiazine (Zintrodiazine, ZY-19489, MMV 253, AZ-13721412) is inactive in the P. berghei liver schizont assay (IC50 >10μM) as well as the P. cynomolgi liver schizont and hypnozoite assay (IC50 >10 μM).
Sutidiazine (Zintrodiazine, ZY-19489, MMV 253, AZ-13721412) is inactive in vitro activity in the Pf male and female dual gamete assay
Sutidiazine (Zintrodiazine, ZY-19489, MMV 253, AZ-13721412) is efficacious in a mouse model of Pf malaria with an ED99 <30 mg kg−1 and displays good in vivo safety margins in guinea pigs and rats.
