Biological Activity

Bindarit (AF2838) is a selective inhibition of inflammatory chemokine MCP-1/CCL2, MCP-3/CCL7, and MCP-2/CCL8, shows immunosuppressive effects anti-inflammatory activity.
Bindarit displays no effect on other CC and CXC chemokines such as MIP-1α/CCL3, MIP-1β/CCL4, MIP-3/CCL23, RANTES/CCL5, and IL8/CXCL8.
Bindarit dose-dependently inhibits MCP-1 and TNF-alpha production induced in vitro in monocytes by LPS and Candida albicans, does not affect the production of the cytokines IL-1, IL-6, or the chemokines IL-8, MIP-1alpha and RANTES.
Bindarit reduces monocyte recruitment and local MCP-1 production, induced by carrageenan or IL-1 injection.
Bindarit protects mice against trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid-induced colitis.
Bindarit reduces tumor growth and macrophage recruitment, rendering necrotic tumor masses in melanoma-bearing mice.
