HgCht2 inhibitor 1516b is a specific, substrate competitive small molecule cyst nematodes chitinase HgCht2 ( Hg-CHI-1) inhibitor, inhibits the hydrolytic activity of HgCht2 with Kd of 3.3 uM.
HgCht2 inhibitor 1516b does not inhibit the activity of two plant GH18 chitinases: MtNFH from Medicago truncatula.
HgCht2 inhibitor 1516b binds to the substrate-binding cleft in a binding mode similar to that of SmNF-V in HgCht2.
HgCht2 inhibitor 1516b successfully suppresses the antagonism of cyst nematodes towards nitrogen-fixing rhizobia and phosphorus-absorbing arbuscular mycorrhizal symbioses.
HgCht2 inhibitor 1516b has a potential application in rescuing beneficial microorganism symbioses under nematode-infested conditions.
