Salubrinal is a selective inhibitor of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha (eIF2alpha, eIF2α) dephosphorylation, also is a potential inhibitor of dual-specificity phosphatase 2 (Dusp2).
Salubrinal inhibits ER stress-mediated apoptosis induced by the protein glycosylation inhibitor tunicamycin (Tm) in a dose-dependent manner, with EC50 of 15 uM.
Salubrinal blocks eIF2alpha dephosphorylation mediated by a herpes simplex virus protein and inhibits viral replication. Salubrinal inhibits Dusp2 in LPS-activated macrophages as well as PMA/ionomycin-activated T lymphocytes and mast cells.
Salubrinal significantly suppressed the inflammatory signs of CAIA mice.
